Made in South Africa

Thrown on at first light, worn through the heat of the day, still on when the fire’s going and the beers are cold. That’s the job of the Saffa Shorty.

It’s a proper 200gsm woven polly-cotton, more substance than you’d expect, but it breathes and stays cool even when the day gets long. Stretches where you need it, doesn’t complain when you get rough with it. Smart enough for a town run, built for the real stuff. Short sleeves keep your arms free for casting, lifting or toasting. Stainless steel ChillCore studs give you that first-splash-in-the-river feeling when things heat up.

Karoo or Kimberley, boat deck or backyard. One shirt, no drama.

Made in South Africa, yarn to final garment. Compostable packaging, plantable swing tag seeded with indigenous Daisy and Vygie.

  1. Mason Crane

The Saffa Shorty has been a great and durable shirt. Nice enough for going out to dinner but also great in the bush for a hunt. The material is comfortable and durable. The style is sleek and the pattern is catchy. Also the cooling studs are awesome when the wind blows. Highly recommend. Will buy more

Thanks Mason, we really appreciate the support all the way from the US! We will keep on making gear you love, you just gotta use it!

  2. Andreas de Lange

This shirt fits so well, I’m convinced it was stitched by someone who’s seen my torso. Clean lines, top-notch fabric, and tough enough to survive both a night out and a day in the bush dodging Buffalo.

It’s soft, durable, and doesn’t shrivel up after a wash—unlike my gym motivation. Plus, it works for everything from Sunday lunch with the in-laws to pretending you’re on a GQ safari shoot.

Best part? It’s proudly South African. Local is not just lekker—it’s flipping stylish. Highly recommend if you want to look good without looking like you tried too hard.

    • Roelof van der Walt

Andreas, we have to get you to be a professional Walt reviewer! Thanks yet again for the kind words. Luckily if you are out and active with your Saffa shirt, you don’t have to gym that much! 😉

  3. Antois Ferreira (verified owner)

If you’re spending any serious time under the South African sun, you know the importance of a shirt that works with the heat—not against it. The Saffa short sleeve shirt nails this balance with breathable fabric and one seriously clever design feature: cooling button vents on the shoulders.

First off, the cut is clean and tailored without being tight, giving it a versatile look that works equally well for a casual braai, a bushwalk, or even a day in town. The material is lightweight but durable—perfect for high temps and dusty roads.

The standout, though, is those shoulder cooling vents. They’re subtle but genius. You can literally feel the heat escaping. It’s like built-in aircon for your shirt, especially handy when there’s no breeze to save you.

In short: it’s a shirt that’s clearly designed with the South African climate in mind—practical, stylish, and just a bit smarter than your average tee. Highly recommended for anyone living in or traveling through Africa’s sun-drenched landscapes.

Love my shirt and will most definitely be buying more

      Hey Antois,
You hit the nail on the head, that’s exactly why we created the SAFFA range! It’s not a flashy tech shirt, but it’s built to handle the real South African heat with smart, no-fuss design. Glad the cooling studs are doing their job, we like to think of them as built-in bush aircon!

And you’ll be happy to hear… an ultralight version is in the works. Stay tuned, and thanks for the epic review, it means a lot!
